shopping local

This year I’m trying to support fellow crafters and shopping handmade and local for gifts as much as possible.

I started by treating myself, mostly – which is important, right? + few gifts this past week from the One of a Kind show.

:: square wood bottons from The Woodlot

mittens

Then I picked up these upcycled sweater mittens at Beadle in Toronto while I was dropping off my own knits to the shop for sale. Yay! Happy announcement, a selection of my stock will carried in Cherie’s shop. This was the pile that I brought to her this week, including the snowflake kids set I blogged about earlier!

  1. I agree–treating yourself is just as important :)

I’ve been searching for innovative gift ideas and came upon your blog. In terms of gift-giving, if you need more ideas and want to support local art and deserving charities, I’m a Sydney-based artist and have some innovative gifts in my shop here (www.etsy.com/shop/letsgolescophotos). There are some pieces for families, some for men, some for kids, and quite a few for women too. Plus there’s a special sale happening where any photo can be made into a print for only $20! A portion of all sales is going to charity, as well.

Good luck with your gift-giving and happy holidays!

    Wishing you the best.

  2. Thanks for purchasing the mittens! I hope they keep you warm and cosy all winter. Beadle is an awesome store filled with so many unique treasures. I love getting custom pieces made, or even her awesome $5 earrings!
If anyone is interested in the mitts and aren’t local, you can find me at http://www.tracykmdesigns.weebly.com and there’s a link on my “about” page for my facebook page :)
