last days of summer

Around here the unofficial end of summer is signaled by the opening and closing of the CNE. It’s one of my favourite things to do in the summer. The sights, sounds and smells of the CNE are something I remember from my childhood. Taking the girls there now is an extension of my own memories.

Of course, the CNE is not the without it’s share of gastronomy — this year the craze is deep fried butter (which was surprising good and not disgusting as it sounds) and red velvet pancakes and pulled pork BBQ (which was rather disappointing).

And a highlight was this guy — a walking, talking tree — pretty cool!
