I’ve admired this idea ever since I saw it a year ago. At the time, I didn’t have an occasion fitting enough, until the end of K’s school year — thank you treats for K’s teachers!
I remembered the idea when I was grocery shopping the week before school was out and saw the packages of mason jars and canning goods out on display, because of course it was almost the start of summer and canning and jam season was about to start. The perfect, elegant thank-you, I thought!
I really wanted to make the red velvet cake, too, but time was not on my side and I used chocolate cake mix. K helped me assemble, which was the best part of the whole process. I put vanilla frosting in a piping bag, and it was so great that I didn’t have to worry about it being perfect — after-all, it was getting “smooshed” in a jar anyways!
I wish I had the time to find the cute wooden spoons or make some cute labels on the computer, but overall it was easy, looked great, and best of all, we did it the night before!
