bits and pieces

a knitted gift

I’m sure most fiber lovers are like me, with a basket full of bits of yarn cut off and leftover pieces from finished projects. I don’t like waste, so I’m always trying to find ways to use up those pieces.

I wrapped this gift using another idea inspired by More Last Minute Knitted Gifts. What an ingenious way to use some of those too-short-to-knit-with pieces in my stash, isn’t it?

Although Joelle‘s first book has been a treasure of patterns for me, I find this second book (though long-awaited) is a little disappointing — except for the wrapping ideas (which as you can see, I love) and this charming knitted house, the patterns for me are a little lack-luster; nothing I haven’t seen elsewhere, compared to her first book, which was almost magical.

Does anyone else feel this way, or maybe is it just me?

  1. Love this idea….I have many bits of yarn left over and finally I can get rid of them with no guilt! I haven’t seen this book — but doesn’t that happen a lot? One exception is Alicia Paulson’s new book. I just got it from Amazon and I think it’s even better than her first. I think I’m going to be spending my winter embroidering.
