princess and the pea

the princess and the pea

My knitting project basket is finally empty. The project I’ve been slowly working on is finally done and I’m so happy with it.

One of my favourite fairy tales is The Princess and the Pea. I’ve seen a few princess and pea play sets on Etsy but always fabric versions, never knit. This play set is a birthday gift for a sweet 3-year-0ld little princess. I hope she likes it. I had to hide it from K because if she saw it she wouldn’t want us to give it up. I’ll have to make another set just for her.

My favourite part was knitting up the cute little pea pod and little peas! More peas, please.

This gift is all about the peas!

Yarn: 100% cotton, various (great stash busting project)
Pattern and inspiration from Susan B. Anderson‘s Itty-Bitty Toys

Hum… so now that my basket is empty, what should I cast on next?

  4. Wow, wow… we are in awe too! Sara (and her mama!) is SO happy with this most special gift for her 3rd birthday. Love, love, love. You did such a fabulous job and we really appreciate all the care you put into it! She has been playing with it all weekend, and we even did a little photo shoot of her hamming it up by lying on the “mattresses” and pretending to eat the peas :) I’ll send them your way. Thanks again, she will treasure it. We love the handmade card too, what a great idea!

  5. Flora, that is just so adorable! Gosh,,,love those peas in the pod! Reminds me of a salt & pepper ceramic set I have. What a wonderful gift you gave! She is a very blessed little girl to receive that for her birthday! It sounds like her and Mom appreciated your time and effort…:)
