The FlowerPot Hat

the flowerpot hat

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to knit this hat. It’s been in my mind for a while now, but something always came up… another project, another thought, another distraction.

But my niece’s 5th birthday earlier this month reminded me about this hat project. It would be perfect for her.

The design is simple, a basic rib brimmed hat adorned with a larger and doubled version of my signature flower (originally designed for my hair clip duos). In the flower’s centre is a vintage mother-of-pearl button.

K is my model, of course, and as you can see the hat is a little too big for her – meant for her 5-year-old cousin!

  1. You couldn’t ask for a cuter model. The big button in the middle of the flower is a great touch. My mom once knit little fruit hats for my kids — one was a lemon, another an eggplant, and I think a strawberry. I’ll have to dig them out of my cedar chest. They were so cute.
