Ode to Cowls

cowl love

I’ve started a love affair with cowls recently. I can’t get enough of them. I look through photos, check out patterns, browse magazines, searching for the perfect one.

I seem to be drawn to the chunky, cozy kind – but I think this is due to the fact that winter is approaching. I can certainly see light, lacy cowls in soft pinks and pale yellow come spring!

I knitted this one last year — my first cowl attempt. I still wear it today.

Yarn:
2 skiens Patons Shetland Chunky (really inexpensive but I love the steel grey colour, which is why I chose it).

Pattern:
CO 52 stitches on 10 mm needles. Knit in garter stitch until it fits across shoulders.

I made this one for the shop a versatile wrap in vibrant plum chunky wool with 3 buttons that can be styled in many different ways.

And finally, my Mille Cowl, which is being gifted this Christmas to my dear sister-in-law in HK. This is a luxury yarn for me. Soft and squishy with muted pinks, mauves and greys.

Yarn:
Lang Mille Colori Big (heaven yarn!)

Pattern:
CO 80 on 10mm circular needles, knit in rib pattern (k2, p2) entirely.

Just like my Elves, plan to see more Cowls in the future here!
