handmade market recap

hmm3 hmm5 hmm4For me, the start of the 2013 wool season (aka Fall / Holiday showtime) began with a show in wine country that I first discovered last year, the Handmade Market. After all, how can you get better than good wine, local produce, food trucks, and a ton of crafty people, plus people who love to shop handmade!

hmm9 hmm7This year, my table set up has been updated. I’m really loving the mix of wood with wool, hence I sought out these old crates at a local antique market several weeks before the show. Show success of the weekend – my hand knit baby booties sold out (save one pair)!

hmm8 hmm6It was also a weekend to meet up with old friends and make a few new ones. Last year, I met Rovena (Handmades by Rovena) and this year we produced our first series of collaborative knitting cards.

hmm11 hmm1Amidst the bustle of sales, I did find some time to slip away and do some shopping of my own, including some “bum-warmers” for the girls and beautiful ceramic buttons to add to some winter cowls this year!

So what’s next? Well, after shuttling through a ton of holiday shows last year, this year, I’ve decided to focus on a few select shows, developing some relationships with a few retailers. updating my stall at the Arts Market, and building up my portfolio of patterns for sale instead. My next show will be in Oakville at White Oaks Secondary School. Stay tuned to my events page for more details coming soon!

Happy wool season!
xoxo
