Pattern: Shawl Collared Cowl by Alana Dakos
Yarn: Misti Alpaca Chunky Solids in earth brown
No mods. One size.
I actually won the pattern and the yarn to go with it from one of Veronika’s giveaways about a year ago. It took me a year to finally start this pattern, and I love it! It’s so simple and elegant and the Misti Alpaca yarn is heaven to knit with. This is my go-to cowl this Fall, and with the cool days ahead, I’m getting lots of wear of it already!
My Ravelry notes here.
One of the best things about this pattern is searching for the perfect buttons to match. I think it is one of the highlights of completing a knit project — the buttons really make a project final. I picked up these beauties from The Woodlot, whom I was delighted to discover, finally, a local wooden button vendor at the knitters’ fair!
I love wood buttons. I’m especially drawn to ones that take on shape and form of what they really are — part of a tree. I love that I can see the rings from the tree and the shapes and textures from the bark are still visible. Perfect pair for yarn labeled “Earth Brown”, wouldn’t you agree?
