I must’ve been really confident with my knitting skills when I started this list and decided to try a fair isle on fingering weight yarn as my first project. After a week of fiddling with the yarn, the carrying over, and the stranding, I decided a simpler pattern was in order for my first colourwork project. Meet the I Heart Knits hat.
My daughter willingly modeled this creation in 22 degree celsius weather yesterday. It fits her perfectly now, but I hope it still fits come Fall.
Pattern: I modified this Pickles pattern to fit a 3-year-old head (pattern notes on Ravelry). I love the look of this hat and plan on making the adult pattern size for myself real soon!
Yarn: Spud & Chloe Sweater in Splash (blue) and Firefly (yellow)
I haven’t given up on the retro knit. This was just a little break to practice my stranding skills on a simpler pattern. As you can see from the image above, it’s not perfect, but not too bad for my first attempt, if I say so myself! At least I can check another one off my list! Now, back to that sweater…

I’m sure she was honored to be your model, no matter what the temperature. I think it turned out great….I say many more in your future.
what an adorable model you have!
love the hat too :)
Your little girl is so cute! I love the colors on that hat…ohhhh that blue! :)
