A sweet pair of red mittens were born last night to keep my babe’s itty bitty fingers warm from the cold.
Yarn: Mission Falls 1824 wool in Poppy
Here’s my free pattern below for these simple thumbless baby mittens.
Size: 3 months, 3-6 months.
Using 4.5 mm double point needles, CO 18 (22) stitches and divide among 3 needles.
Knit 1″ (2″) of 1×1 rib (k1, p1, repeat).
Switch to 5.0 mm dpns, knit st st for 2″ (3″).
Begin decrease:
row 1: k2tg, k7 (9), k2tg, k7 (9)
row 2: *k2tg, k2 (4), repeat at *
row 3: *k2tg, k1 (3), repeat at*
Continue with one less stich between decreases until there are 8 sts remaining.
Break yarn and thread through remaining stitches to close.
Repeat pattern for the second mitten.
Someone really loved the mittens, so much so she decided to take a nap while still wearing them!

So sweet, oh how I wish I could knit!
Now there’s a cutie! She’s adorable and of course, the mittens are too. By the way, I sent Rebekah from Don’t Call Me Becky over to your site because she’s heading to Toronto and was hoping someone could advise her — I hope she stopped by. If not, check out her blog. She’s posed her questions there. (I’ve got a link on my site).
Oh, so sweet…*sigh*… just adorable–both the mittens and dear baby! :o)
