craft: K’s art cards

I’ve been struggling with what to do with the growing mound of K’s art — the paintings, cut outs, stuck on paper crafts that have been piling up around the house that she comes home with from playschool. I love all of her little creations — I’ve even framed a few of the special ones that she was really proud of, but the rotating placement of art on our fridge is getting rather full. Continue reading

cookbook challenge: cucumber mint salad

Week two of my cookbook challenge featured Michael Smith’s cucumber mint salad with spicy Asian dressing. This was a very simple recipe with only a few ingridents, cucumbers, mint and red onion. The dressing called for rice wine vinegar, which I was out of so I substituted with lemon juice and a bit of white vinegar instead. The spicy comes from the addition of a little chilli garlic sauce (found at Asian food stores).
